Later variants of the AN/ARC-34 |
RT-263/ ARC34 Original UHF radio, built in 1952 by RCA and Magnavox Has dynamotor and 1750 channels RT-423 / ARC-66 Same system in jerrycan form to fit in the early F104 starfighter Note: Later Starfighters had ARC52 versions. RT-463 / ARC-34A Has the PP1990 static power supply, replacing the DY103 dynamotor. The PP1990 allowed 17-30V dc system input, instead of only 26-28Vdc as with the dynamotor. RT-463A/ARC-34B Has the RF module AM-3408 with improved reliability.
RT–720/ ARC-34C Has 3500 channels by adding 4 Xtals to osc.3 More channels, but same selectivity.
RT-750/ ARC-34C /G same ? |
The oven with the Xtals for oscillator 2 had 4 Xtals in the ARC34A and B with 100kHz channel spacing, but got 8 crystals for the ARC34C with 50kHz channel spacing.
Some types had just one thyratron 5727 in the Selector ( tuning motor controller), in stead of 3 in parallel.
The PP1990 power supply. A description of the PP1990 is here. |
